by Mark Rowe

The CCTV manufacturer IDIS has appointed Charles Penning as Technical Specialist to support its customers and partners, particularly the company’s flagship DirectIP HD surveillance offering.

Based at IDIS European head offices in Brentford, Penning will add to the UK technical team with technical support and training across the UK and Ireland. IDIS’ demo and training centre hosts a weekly agenda of courses that range from single site installation to multi-site enterprise-level. Penning will also work with IDIS headquarters research and development to drive ‘voice of the customer’ product enhancements.

Charles Penning, pictured, said: “It’s an exciting time to join IDIS during a period of huge growth that has seen the establishment of IDIS in the Middle East and Americas and the recent launch of our total surveillance solution here in London at IFSEC last month. The IDIS total solution offering enables us to meet the surveillance requirements from both a security and technology perspective for a wide range of customers big or small.”

Penning brings with him over ten years’ security industry experience and technical expertise in analogue and network surveillance. He most recently spent four years in technical roles with Samsung Techwin; earlier, he was with Bosch and Forward Vision CCTV.

Brian Song, Managing Director of IDIS Europe, said: “Charles has a proven track record and deep understanding of surveillance, working with consultants, integrators and end-users from system design through to commissioning and maintenance. He is already proving to be an invaluable addition to our team in providing local and specialist support for our growing customer base.”

Penning holds and NVQ in mechanical engineering from the Basingstoke College of Technology and a Bachelor of Technology certification for security system installation, repair and inspection.
