EEMA joiner

by Mark Rowe

EEMA, the not for profit, European think tank covering authentication, privacy, risk management, cyber security, the Internet of Things and mobile applications, has welcomed BeCyberSure as its newest member.

BeCyberSure covers the spectrum of information security, including physical, cyber, governance, education, training and business continuity issues such as crisis management and disaster recovery.

Marketing Director at BeCyberSure, Carolyn Harrison, says: “We are working hard to get the message out that information security is about getting the right combination of people, process and technology in that order. Achieve this and the increasing cyber security risk can be handled in a sensible and proportionate way. BeCyberSure operates across Europe and the expansive EEMA network creates opportunities for us to convey this important message to the right people throughout the region.”

In June, BeCyberSure was invited to Trust in the Digital World (TDW), a two-day conference in The Hague, hosted by EEMA, TDL and IDnext. The company took part in a seminar on cyber-security for SMEs.

Harrison says: “Eighty per cent of hacks in larger companies start in the supply-chain, as they provide an easier route as defences are typically weaker. By getting involved with an independent think tank such as EEMA we can drive home the message that strong security is the responsibility of everybody.”

Chair of EEMA, Jon Shamah, adds: “We are delighted to welcome BeCyberSure as members of EEMA. Its knowledge and expertise in aiding SMEs throughout Europe with regard to their information security strategies is an important addition to our network.”

Another initiative announced by EEMA last month was the European Trust Foundation. That’s a collaboration between ten industry associations that will work with Governments, corporates, trade-associations, SME bodies and others within and outside the EU to bring about stronger digital trust.
