Made in Hull award

by Mark Rowe

The road blocker and hostile vehicle mitigation product company Heald has seen its patent protected bollard, the Matador, named as the ‘Sold Nationwide’ winner at the fourth ‘Made in Hull’ Awards. The event ran on June 4 at the KC Lightstream Stadium in Hull. Pictured are Heald’s Directors, Rod and Debbie Heald.

In the category, Hornsea, Humberside-based Heald faced Savantini and Kingston Engineering. Heald says that its Matador is the only product on the market of its type providing protection from vehicle borne threats with its automatic, sliding bollard functionality that has been IWA-14 tested to halt a 7.2 tonne truck travelling at 64 kph (40 mph).

Sites protected by the Matador include the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Centre in Athens and the perimeter at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

Managing Director Debbie Heald added: “We are very proud to have taken home the win in the ‘Sold Nationwide’ category and to have had our successes recognised in our local region amongst such a range of outstanding businesses. It was an excellent afternoon and we would like to congratulate all the other winners too.”
