Institute board

by Mark Rowe

John Sephton, an Account Director at Axis Security, the security services contract company, was voted on the Board of Directors at the Security Institute, at the recent AGM in London.

The Security Institute appoints a maximum of 15 directors, typically serving three years. They are tasked with delivering the aims, objectives and budgetary requirements of the Institute. Besides attending the Board’s AGM, conferences and strategy meetings, John will have shared responsibility for membership communications, the Institute’s Continuing Professional Development Scheme, member and new member engagement and the promotion of the Chartered Security Professional (CSyP) qualification.

Having started as a security officer, John says he is honoured to have been selected by the Institute. John, pictured, says: “After some excellent mentors of my own, I believe strongly in mentoring security officers to help them realise their potential and achieve their career aspirations. My position within the Institute and its active mentoring platform will help further this goal and the overall professionalism of the industry.”

Johnathan Levine, Axis Group CEO says John’s position on the board of directors proves his expertise and credibility as a security leader: “We are all very proud of his achievement and believe this expertise will help Axis Security stay at the forefront of security best practice and thinking.”
