Fictional comic night club doormen the ‘Two Rons’, played by duo Hale and Pace, are ‘retiring’ to make way for a new era in professional door supervision with the launch of the national door supervisors licence, the Security Industry Authority reports. The ‘Two Rons’ will be sat in deckchairs on a pebble beach at South Pier Beach, Portsmouth, with a warm tartan rug over their legs and their pension books in their hands to announce their retirement. Two new SIA licensed door supervisors will be on hand to make sure the duo come to no harm. Why’ Well, Monday, March 1 sees the launch, in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, of a national licence for door supervisors by regulating body, the SIA. Hampshire and Isle of Wight will be the first region to be regulated under the authority’s licensing scheme. Door staff in other regions, finally London, will follow. Wheel clampers, contract security officers, consultants and investigators will follow too.
