Patch Management

by msecadm4921

In IT security, St Bernard Software has announced UpdateEXPERT 6.3, the latest version of the company’s patch management software.

It covers Microsoft Windows and also adds patching capabilities for Red Hat Linux and Solaris operating systems. The added features are a result of recent changes in market trends for patch management including extensive feedback from customers as to what they require to successfully manage their infrastructure security easily and reliably, the makers claim. "The vast majority of security exploits target known vulnerabilities. Companies can solve critical security issues that are essential to operating any business if they follow a comprehensive patch management programme," said Charles Kolodgy, research director at IDC. "St. Bernard Software recognises this and have zeroed in on providing patch management solutions for small to mid size businesses, a market that is underserved but requires solutions tailored to their unique business requirements."

"One of the main advantages UpdateEXPERT offers, is its ability to detect and proactively patch vulnerabilities to our system in advance, minimising security threats," said Richard Keeling, development officer at Staffordshire County Council. "As well as providing increased functionality, the latest version makes it even easier to control our patch management requirements."

John Jones, president and CEO of St. Bernard Software, said: "This latest version of UpdateEXPERT is part of our vision for St. Bernard Software – to be the leader in providing in-depth security for our customers. This means not relying on one solution to solve your security threats, but providing protection across multiple network layers. UpdateEXPERT 6.3 fills the specific needs of small to medium sized businesses that struggle with critical patch management issues. There is no easier, more scaleable or affordable patch management product on the market. Over 9,000 customers rely on us."
