Counter-terror Meeting

The International School for Security and Explosives Education (ISSEE) is to host a conference, Using Hi-Tech Solutions to Support Counter-Terrorism and Security.

Organisers say that the aim is to boost security and counter-terrorism awareness and co-operation between China and the UK.<br> <br>China’s Ministry of Public Security, with which ISSEE has a co-operation arrangement, is sending an official delegation to meet British hi-tech security equipment manufacturers and to advise British companies on the Chinese security market.<br><br>The two-day exhibition and conference at ISSEE’s training school in Tidworth, Wiltshire on May 9 and 10 is co-hosted by UK Trade &amp; Industry (UKTI) and the Association of Police and Public Security Suppliers (APPSS). The conference programme features practical demonstrations of the management of a bomb threat, live explosives demonstrations and a product showcase.<br><br>UK, China speakers<br><br>Speakers include Nick Gibbons, Head of Counter-Terrorism Strategy Unit, UK Cabinet Office; China’s Vice Minister of Public Security; Commander Duncan Jarrett and Inspector Andy Amery, Metropolitan Police Special Operations; Directors of the Chinese Ministry of Public Security, the Head of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Finance and Equipment and Professor Alan Hatcher, Principal of ISSEE.<br><br>What they say<br><br>Prof Hatcher said: “Our conference will provide a strong platform for the UK and China to exchange information on hi-tech security and policing methodology and techniques.
