Safety Call

by msecadm4921

Radio communication firm Ansur Communications has developed “Safety Call”, a radio alarm product.

It’s aimed at Higher and Further Education (HFE) institutions to meet the 2005 revised Disability Discrimination Act.

Using Icom radios and software, Safety Call is an alarm response system that links a distressed person to mobile assistance. When a distress alarm is initiated, a pre-defined text message is sent to the on-call response officer giving the incident location and nature. All radio/alarm traffic is automatically logged.
The product offers safety features such as alarm monitoring, mandown alerts, panic buttons, direct voice communication, and text messaging. The product was designed to meet the requirements for reasonable adjustments to premises in accordance with the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) legislation 2005. The makers report that this wireless solution minimises disturbance to day to day operations during installation, and adheres to BS8300:2001 and BS5588-8:1999 legislation.
From September 2005, HFE institutions have been required to make reasonable adjustments to physical features of premises where these put disabled people at a substantial disadvantage. And, the DDA 2005 amends the DDA 1995 to place a duty on public bodies to promote equality of opportunity for disabled people. The Disability Equality Duty came into force in December 2006.
