Cargo screening

by Mark Rowe

Rapiscan Systems, Inc, a supplier of security inspection systems, has been awarded a contract for a cargo security screening service in an unnamed eastern European country.

Rapiscan’s Eagle G60 Gantry Scanner operates on rails and uses a 6 MeV X-ray imaging system, which can scan densely-packed cargo, reducing the need for manual inspection, the makers say.

Rapiscan will provide X-ray screening, which will incorporate technology, civil works, and a multiyear maintenance support programme.

Frederic Brouiller, pictured, Vice President Sales EMEA at Rapiscan Systems said: “We are proud to play a role in improving the territory’s security infrastructure. The G60 represents Rapiscan’s best in-class imaging technology which provides fast and reliable cargo screening at entrances to critical facilities, as well as at border crossings and seaports around the world. Our solution is proving successful across our customer base as regulatory and compliance controls continue to increase due to international threat levels brought about by terrorism, smuggling and restrictions on prohibited substances. Our customers see the value in dealing with one supplier to provide commonality of technologies on multiple platforms, economies of scale and informed local expertise and support.”
