Europol MoU

by Mark Rowe

Europol‘s European Cybercrime Centre (EC3) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ING Group. The European Union’s law enforcement agency says it’s to further expand cooperation in combating cybercrime targeting the financial sector. This MoU allows for Europol and ING Group to exchange strategic information, data on trends and statistics.

Wil van Gemert, Deputy Director Operations at Europol says: “The fight against the growing problem of cybercrime requires cooperation between law enforcement and private industry. The signature of a MoU with ING Group is another important step towards joint cooperation in combating the threat of cybercrime targeting the financial sector.”

And Rob Bening, Chief Information Security Officer at ING Group says: “In today’s digital world security is even more important than ever. To ensure the best possible protection against the threats of organised fraud and cybercrime we need to cooperate. To this end we are reinforcing ING Group’s close working relationship with Europol with this MoU.”
