Bloodstock stewarded

by Mark Rowe

The heavy metal festival Bloodstock Open Air 2014 was the fifth year of involvement for the crowd management and event security contractor Showsec. The organisers of the festival at Catton Park in southern Derbyshire have awarded a new three-year contract to Leicester-based Showsec.

Thousands of heavy metal fans enjoyed three days of music featuring rock legends Saxon and Megadeth. Afterwards, Adam Gregory, Director of Bloodstock, said: “Bloodstock celebrated its 14th year in style. We are proud to be associated with Showsec for all our security and stewarding needs. Yet again, they were outstanding with their performance and engaged in a friendly and courteous manner with both festival crew and fans alike. Any issues were dealt with swiftly and without incident, ensuring everyone had a great weekend. Showsec are a true credit to their industry.”

Joe Milner, Showsec’s Area Manager for the East Midlands, said: “Bloodstock attracts a very dedicated crowd of heavy metal fans, but the atmosphere certainly puts it up there among the more enjoyable festivals at which we operate. It’s been an absolute pleasure working with the organisers and fans over the past five years, all of which meant the weather was our biggest challenge this time. We had to contend with an amber warning for six hours on the Sunday due to hurricane Bertha, but it didn’t cause too much disruption and didn’t spoil the enjoyment of the crowd.”
