Halloween stories

by Mark Rowe

Ghost stories will come to life this Halloween at an event at Essex Police Museum. On Thursday, October 30, Chelmsford Ghost and Phantasmagoria Society will bring their travelling venue ‘The Antiquarium’ to police headquarters and present dramatized readings of ghostly tales.

‘In The Spirit of Justice’ explores Charles Dickens’ ‘The Trial for Murder’, M.R. James’ ‘Martin’s Close’, and A.M Burrage’s classic ‘The Sweeper’. Society member Daniel Segeth says: “Ghost stories are an inherent part of British culture. The society was formed to bring these stories to life; to scare and excite, and educate and inspire audiences with an interest in one of the most popular literary genres.”

‘In the Spirit of Justice’ will run from 7.30pm to 9pm at Essex Police Museum. Tickets cost £3 per person and include light refreshments. Spaces are limited so need to be booked by ringing Becky Wash on 01245 457150, or emailing [email protected]
