Lord’s radios

by Mark Rowe

Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) chose Chatterbox to supply the two-way radios for Lord’s Cricket Ground, in north London.

The supplier carried out a site survey before preparing and presenting a tender proposal, with UK manufacturer Sepura. Under the new five–year contract they will supply MCC with 78 keypad Sepura handsets, and will hire a further 366 non-keypad Sepura handsets to the club for use by stewards and others on match days. The handsets come with coloured bezels, each department having a different colour for identification.

The new contract was in place for April 12, the official start of the 2015 cricket season, which included the first Investec Test Match England versus New Zealand in May, and the second Investec Test Match England versus Australia in July.
