Forensic investigators must deal with nearly 200 times as much data today as they did when I started out.
So as digital evidence continues to play an ever-more integral part in criminal and civil investigations, those whose role it is to process and analyse the deluge of information, often stored across multiple, difficult-to-access storage devices, are finding their technology toolkits lacking in solutions to tackle such a challenge. The way traditional digital forensic investigation tools process each individual source of data doesnโt allow investigators to see the bigger picture of an investigation quickly โ only the individual parts. If investigative tools and techniques donโt evolve with the evidence, investigators wonโt be able to keep up.
