Access IP

by msecadm4921

Borer Data Systems has developed Fusion – an first access and facilities control system to combine new-generation software and intelligent door access readers, delivered through a company’s IP infrastructure.

According to the makers the product offers 80pc energy savings delivered through the new PowerWise power management system that delivers the low energy needed to operate the intelligent reader and secure latch for each door. For organisations with large numbers of doors, these savings could run to thousands of pounds a year, it is claimed.

Traditional access control systems demand a plethora of equipment to be installed around the door: reader head, lock, data cable, a mains power supply and spur, plus a control box for every door. Fusion needs a single Ethernet cable, an electric lock and Borer’s intelligent reader, according to the firm.

The access control system uses what the makers call a ‘hack-proof’ bridge to ensure that there is a secure firewall between the access control network corporate LAN. With most IP-based systems, the corporate network is put at risk as it could be hacked into via any of the network cables that connect access control equipment to the network – particularly when those access points are outside the building perimeter, according to the firm.

What they say

Borer MD Bob Chapman said: "Organisations can now choose a fully-integrated, energy-efficient system to control access to their premises and to manage and collect data on key facilities management areas such as alarm management, locker management and visitor management."
