Access System

The Cham Palace Hotel Chain, one of the largest luxury hotel operators in the Middle East, has selected a SALTO access control system to secure their new five-star Ebla Cham Palace hotel in Damascus, Syria.

The largest five-star hotel in Syria, the Ebla Cham Palace is 9km from Damascus city centre and 13km from the International Airport. It is located in 48 hectares of private gardens, adjacent to the convention centre, and offers 500 guest rooms and suites each lavishly decorated with designer interiors each featuring a private balcony, modern bathroom, TV with satellite channels, refrigerated mini bar, remote air conditioning and in-room safety lockers.

To maintain its position as the premier hotel in Damascus, the property recently completed a major renovation including upgrading its security prior to hosting the annual summit of the Arab League.

Victor Hage, SALTO Systems ME Regional Manager, said: "As part of this prestigious renovation, security at the Ebla Cham Palace hotel represented a significant investment in their overall budget and SALTO were able to adapt their lock escutcheons to the hotel’s existing doors without major changes having to be made. The SALTO XS4 Access system was selected as the perfect solution to their security needs, enabling the hotel to control and manage a greater range of access control applications than ever before. XS4 required no hard wiring and provides a totally wire free networked locking solution designed around electronics that use distributed intelligence to pass information between microprocessors in the electronic handle set and the key card.

"This enabled the XS4 electronic handle sets to be easily added to the hotels existing locks and doors, turning them into fully featured access control doors without compromising comfort, convenience, security or control.

"It also allows the hotel to benefit from the many advantages of the SALTO Virtual Network (SVN), which enables their locks and key cards to be updated, restricted or deleted remotely and access profiles to be changed rapidly. And by using SALTO wall readers linked in to the handle sets, the access control system can be expanded even further into the hotel at any time whilst still allowing for on-line access provision wherever needed."
