Adies Risk Book

by msecadm4921

New from BBC reporter Kate Adie, published by Hodder & Stoughton: Into Danger: Risking Your Life for Work.

A fair chunk of the book – about risky jobs and workplaces – covers private security matters, such as ‘the bodyguard’ and ‘the hostage negotiator’, which features veteran Arish Turle. Control Risks man Nigel Churton is among those acknowledged at the start of the book by Adie, herself no stranger to working in risky places.

A couple of other chapters cover ‘the Northern Ireland policeman’ – where putting police uniform on the washing line could prove fatal to officer and family – and ‘the bank robber’, written mostly in the past tense, a sign of how robbery has become out of date (in favour of other crime).
