Any Old Iron?

by msecadm4921

Ling Metals is a Canterbury firm that recycles abandoned cars and old tyres; and redundant fridges, freezers and air conditioning.

It sought a CCTV system offering remote monitoring – whereby, when the cameras sensed movement on the site, the system automatically directed the camera lens towards the suspected intruder. A system installed by Ashford-based Kent and Sussex Security is fitted on twin high towers, pictured, that overlook the entire site. When intruders are detected, the system is programmed so that it simultaneously dials up Ling’s security company, on an ISDN line, to notify that there is a problem. The security firm can then remotely operate the cameras to track the intruders, while police or Ling’s staff are contacted. Geoff Hinton, Managing Director of Kent and Sussex, says: ‘The system provides a neat and cost-effective solution to a tricky health and safety and security problem. It’s like having a permanent security guard on your site, one who never sleeps, yet costs you a fraction of the normal expense.’
