CCTV has been fitted at a private school, St Gerards, in Bray near Dublin.
It’s a new build, an extension to the main school and catering for primary pupils. Cameras from manufacturer Rainbow – the US firm’s new OCL Series outdoor colour DSP cameras – are operating from the school’s entrances, stairwells and playground, serving a building which has a split-level structure with eight classrooms. Images will be monitored in real time by school staff, and reviewed from Columbus DVRs from distributor Norbain. Wiring is CAT5 throughout, employing NVT transmission. The school plans to network the system, for remote monitoring, and to allow central admin staff to observe footage. The installer is Dublin-based Executive Security whose manager, Alan Byrne, says: “We are impressed with these cameras since as high quality units for external use which come as an integral, pre-built package, they are a niche offering. The labour saving for the installer is also significant.” Using a DSP Sony Super HAD CCD, the camera features a basic day-night function for a cleaner low-light picture (not IR sensitive) and will operate to 0.5 lux minimum illumination, the makers report.
