ASB Site

by msecadm4921

A new website will help you find your local anti-social behaviour (ASB) team, and see what is being done to tackle anti-social behaviour in your area.

The ASB action website allows those who are suffering harassment or intimidation to find the person or team in their area who can deal with the problem. The interactive website also lets you see what action is being taken in your area by local councils, police and other partners. It allows you to demand further action, if you feel that not enough is being done in your area.

Home Secretary Alan Johnson said that the website gave the public a way to see what is being done. He said: ‘No one should assume antisocial behaviour is a problem they should have to live with.

‘Giving the public easy access to support and ways of holding authorities to account when they are not doing well enough is vital if we are to give the public confidence that tough action is being taken on antisocial behaviour.’

Tools

The website is part of a wider effort to support local partnerships across the country as they work to stop anti-social behaviour, the Home Office adds. An ‘ASB action squad’ will work with 16 priority areas to make sure they have all the expertise, help and powers they need – such as being able to issue anti-social behaviour orders (ASBOs), parenting orders, and being able to evict problem tenants.

The priority areas were chosen because they have fewer powers and tools at their disposal than other areas, and a higher public perception of ASB.

Latest ASBO figures

The website also includes the latest information on the number of antisocial behaviour orders (ASBOs) issued.
