ASC Business Meet

Association of Security Consultants (ASC) members and guests attended the recent ASC Business Club Seminar held in St James’s, London.

The meeting considered the theme “Security Demands Innovation” and was sponsored by Nedap.

After a welcome and introduction by ASC Chairman Roy Sutherland, Mohammed Jouied of ActivIdentity gave the first presentation about authentication and identity management. He provided information about how the trend towards connecting physical and logical security is driving technological development, the application for day to day end point security enforcement, with details about card encryption standards.

Jon Busby from Human Recognition Systems provided information regarding the status of biometrics in security – IP software that can be integrated across all biometric platforms ensuring unbiased and reliable recommendations.

Nick Holmes and Noel Hutchinson from Lineartron explored the value of integrating on the IP network. Lineartron provide digital communication products for business.

Daryn Flynn from Nedap then gave his presentation entitled “Unifying Security systems…it’s only software!”. Daryn talked about integrating on a single platform and how one controller fits all. After a lively question and answer session, Roy Sutherland thanked all those who attended and Nedap for sponsoring the event.

Roy also reminded the audience that the next Business Club Seminar would be held on Wednesday, April 13. Among other ASC forthcoming events, CONSEC, the ASC’s International Conference and Exhibition is scheduled for Thursday, November 3, at the Royal Air Force Museum, Hendon, London. A buffet luncheon and drinks concluded the seminar, giving ASC members and guests an opportunity to network on an informal basis.

The ASC organises a number of events during the year, which are of importance to both ASC members and others who are interested in security issues and technical innovations.
