Applied Technology Monitoring, a provider of web-enabled security systems, has a range of training courses for 2002. Designed to introduce new users to the LookC web-based digital CCTV system, the training schedule includes courses for installers and security managers. There are options for people with a non-IT background, ATM say, and those with experience in computer and communications systems.

The courses cover product training for the LookC CCTV system, designed for new users of ATM’s surveillance system, which allows users to access and view images remotely via the internet. ATM also offers training in communications technology for installers of turnkey systems, and for those who do not have a CCTV background, there is an overview of CCTV and also sales and marketing training for LookC, to help installers maximise opportunities for selling and installing the LookC system.

Module one: product training for LookC Pro ix. This module is designed for delegates with a non-IT background and lasts for four hours. The course introduces the LookC system to new users and installers and covers topics such as installing the hardware – location of the server, physical connections, power supply issues, and communication links. The course shows how to configure LookC, E-mail and sms text messages, transmission of images to a central location, remote and local viewing options, scheduling configuration and activation of external devices. Hands-on experience includes using live camera views. Trainees are shown how to review archived events, which may be either trigger or date and time based.

Module two, more technical, is for introducing the concept of communications to people from a non-IT background, ATM says. It encompasses network communications for remote surveillance. It introduces the concepts of internet protocols and configuration, local area and wide area networks, internet, point-to-point connectivity, digital data transmission and private circuits. Module three is general introduction to CCTV. It is non-product specific and is aimed at people who want to learn more about CCTV. It looks at surveying a site for CCTV and specifying the most appropriate solution, cameras and lenses, lighting, transmission, sensors, surveying, commissioning, data protection, ACPO implications and gives examples of successful CCTV.

Module four is designed to enable installers to sell and market ATM’s LookC product and covers value/cost parameters, selling LookC Pro ix and cameras. It identifies system options, lead generation and referrals, marketing and ATM’s sales support to certified dealers. The courses are at ATM?s Newcastle headquarters. E-mail [email protected].
