ASC Club Meet

The Association of Security Consultants next business group meeting on June 2 is sponsored by Lenel Systems International.

It runs at the regular venue, Bury House, 33 Bury Street, St James’s, London SW1YB 6AX. Arrival, registration and coffee is from 9.30am and the welcome by Roy Sutherland, chairman of the association, around 10am. Then follows an introduction to Lenel by Justin Barrett and these talks –

10.10 – 11.00 “Integration in an Industry of interoperability” – Brenda Koesterman –
For more than a decade, the security industry has boasted that integration is the key to success. While this is a well-discussed topic, as an industry we cannot seem to move ourselves past “Interoperability” rather than true integration. Brenda Koesterman will speak on the difference between interoperability and integration, why integration is important and discuss the obstacles in place that are preventing Integration as an industry whole. Some organisations have achieved higher levels of integration than others and what key indicators that show how to identify these organisations will be discussed.

11.00 – 11.50 “Innovation, Integration and Interoperability at Microsoft” – Mark Abbot
Microsoft is a large enterprise with sites that span the globe. The processes of providing and monitoring access to physical sites and responding to events were cumbersome and costly in the past. Seeking to improve its global physical security operations, Microsoft has incorporated information technology into its strategy for physical security with compelling results. The presentation will look to provide an overview of the previous environment, the strategies and the systems which have been deployed to enable the build out of its global security architecture.

11.50 – 12.20 Redundancy considerations for SMS – Sean Archer
A CPC course at intermediate level covering redundancy considerations for security management solutions including Express cluster, Fault tolerance and Disaster recovery. This Training presentation discusses today’s options for ensuring business continuity by protecting mission-critical security management system data in the event of the destruction of local computing resources and how solutions can provide every company with an affordable way to allow surviving resources to continue working with access to the latest Security system data after a disaster.
12.20 – 12.50 "A Clever Partnership; Contactless Solutions and OSDP" – Howard Albrow of HID Global
This will focus on the key benefits of contactless solutions and OSDP with applications, security features and new developments.

Drinks are followed by a buffet luncheon.
