ASC Conference

by msecadm4921

Lord Peter Imbert of New Romney QPM JP, one of the Association of Security Consultants’ (ASC) patrons, chaired the ASC’s annual conference, CONSEC

It ran on 08 November 2007 at the Royal Air Force Museum at Hendon.

Speakers provided expertise and experience gained in the fields of commerce, the insurance industry, the armed services and the police.

They included the keynote speaker, Deputy Assistant Peter Clarke (Deputy Assistant Commissioner, Metropolitan Police Service, Counter Terrorism Command) who provided details on the response to the changing threat environment to national security.

Other speakers included Andy Williams (Regional Director, Loss Prevention – Marriott Hotels), who covered a commercial viewpoint of risk perception and John Smith (Head of Group Security, Prudential plc) who informed the audience of strategic and tactical risk in a global organisation.

Michael Charlton-Weedy (Chief Executive of the Cabinet Office Emergency Planning College) gave an insight into the realities of hazard, and Kevin McCrone (Chief Inspector, Counter Terrorism Section, City of London Police) shared details of specific operations carried out to police the financial critical national infrastructure of the UK.

For something a little different, Tim Stimpson (former rugby International with England and the British Lions) gave an excellent presentation on motivation and how to be the best and help others do the same, taking control of reality and making it better.

Sponsors showcased their products at an exhibition as part of the day. Major sponsor was Lenel and other sponsors included JVC Professional Europe, Axis Communications, Salto Systems, MAXxess Systems, Integrated Design Limited, Harp Visual Communications Limited, Integrated Security Systems (ISIS) and Microbus Ltd.

Colin Braziel, Chairman of the Association of Security Consultants, commented that he was pleased to see so many members of the Association at this year’s event, and was delighted that many delegates remained for the afternoon sessions until the closure of the conference.
