Audio Warning

by msecadm4921

Detection product firm Optex Europe has launched the AL01 Security voice unit, which provides an audio warning announcement.

Part of its Guardian range of external detection devices, the unit can deliver a single 20-second message, or one of two 10-second messages, upon activation. Suited, it is claimed, for temporary or permanent installations, it provides a warning or information service for use, for example, to issue hazard warnings on building sites, and protect local council premises.

Paul Nicholas, Divisional Manager at Optex, says: “The AL01 is a versatile product, suitable for use in a range of situations, either as a deterrent, a warning, or to offer assistance. The message recorded will depend on the scenario and the information to be communicated. At a basic level, it is a detection device which will monitor activity inside or outside certain areas of a business premises or domestic property and verbally warn off intruders. Alternatively, the AL01 can issue warnings of potential hazards, perhaps to a reversing vehicle on a building site or raising awareness of harmful chemicals. At an information level it can also address, welcome or give information to visitors arriving at a site, and inform them of certain rules and restrictions such as ‘no mobile phones’ etc.

“There are a whole host of situations when it is not feasible or cost-effective to have a human being in place, to make announcements and, for these applications, the AL01 offers the perfect alternative.”

Powered by two C – cell 1.5 volt batteries, the AL01 detector has a typical range of 3-4m when located at the recommended height of 1.2m and can be rotated on its bracket. Users can record their own message, use the message supplied with the unit or order the unit with any of a number of pre-recorded messages from Optex’s library. Typical battery life (based on 20 activations per day) is up to two years, the makers add.
