Neverfail Group plc, a business continuity firm, has a contract with Toyota (GB) PLC to provide consultancy services and business continuity plans. Commercial terms of the project, were not disclosed. The consultancy team will work with Toyota (GB) PLC to develop its existing UK business continuity strategy, in recognition of changing environmental threats. The objective is to expand the existing business continuity plans and recovery infrastructure so Toyota (GB) PLC can continue business in the event of a disruption to its operations, irrespective of cause or scale. Specifically, the implementation will enable Toyota (GB) PLC to continue to support the Toyota and Lexus dealer network, expedite the supply chain and receive and process orders.
The new business continuity programme will protect Toyota (GB) PLC against a wide variety of scenarios. These include:
– The destruction or damage of buildings through fire or explosion
– Denial of access caused by environmental contamination including fire, flood or power failure
– Widespread loss of computer systems or telecommunications
– Loss of supply, including loss of vehicle or parts supply, transport strike or fuel shortage
– Travel disruptions whereby half of staff are unable to attend work for an extended period, due to an external cause, such as transport failure
Toyota (GB) PLC employs about 500 staff, its head office is based at Burgh Heath, Epsom. The business continuity plans will initially focus on the head office site, but will then include site visits and reports on additional locations including Lutterworth, Burnaston, Portbury and Salfords. Richard Burgess, Business Process Manager, Toyota (GB) PLC said, ?We were impressed with the Neverfail Group?s business continuity consultants from the outset. They spent several days on site getting to know us before even thinking about starting to make recommendations. Their work will ensure that we are able to continue working in the event of unforeseen circumstances, protecting our business interests by virtually eliminating downtime and ensuring the best service for our customers and partners. ?

Downtime unacceptable

Richard Whitby, Head of Consultancy, the Neverfail Group, said, ?Downtime is not acceptable in today?s highly competitive business environment. We will adopt Toyota (GB) PLC?s process modeling architecture and combine it with our own continuity methods and ideas, leaving them with a robust, integrated and permanent continuity management system that may be of further benefit elsewhere in the group.? Richard Pursey, CEO, the Neverfail Group commented, ?Business continuity consultancy is witnessing a new trend, as business continuity shifts from being a reactive ?should buy? to a ?must have? proactive investment. This is true for both SMEs and leading corporations, such as Toyota (GB) PLC. Our aim is to give organisations the confidence that their business will continue in the event of any interruption, be they technical or environmental, ensuring they do not suffer financial downturn and reputation loss incurred through downtime.?
