Blackpool Council is running anti-social behaviour surgeries this summer.
Topics raised at the first included noise nuisance, groups of young people and the dumping of rubbish. Residents were offered advice and were helped to complete an on-line reporting form so that the relevant person could be contacted.
What they say
Cllr Sue Wright, Portfolio Holder with responsibility for Community Safety, said: “These surgeries are a great way of Blackpool residents getting advice on issues that we know are important to them. Anti social behaviour can be anything from graffiti to threatening behaviour and Blackpool Council is committed to tackling the problem. Anti-social behaviour can really damage the quality of life that Blackpool residents have so it is important they are able to get advice from both the Council and Police on how to deal with it appropriately.”
In March this year a scheme was launched in Revoe named the Revoe Reassurance Project. A multi-agency partnership, the long-term goal is to make people safer and feel safer in their own neighbourhood. It comprises of local councillors, police, and council officers who oversee vital services such as street cleaning and youth services. It also includes representatives from the voluntary sector, local community leaders, and residents to tackle issues as diverse as health, crime and the environment.
Local residents who attended the anti social behaviour surgery were invited to become involved in Revoe Reassurance by joining one of the themed groups. The surgeries will continue to run until September across the town.
