Boat Time And Attendance

by msecadm4921

A time and attendance system is helping smooth operations for a fast expanding commercial boat builder in Northumberland, England. Aluminium work boat specialist Alnmaritec needed to keep track of operations at its Alnwick fabrication facility and Blyth shipyard.

The new time and attendance system supplied by UK Time Solutions Ltd allows 90 employees to clock on and off, with data fed to payroll software which will automatically calculate wages. The system allows management to ensure the right mix if skills are available at both facilities and provides a health and safety benefit since exact numbers of staff on-site are available to management in real time.

With a £6m turnover last year, Alnmaritec has plans to increase its workforce to 120 over the coming 12 months. Recent contracts include oil pollution control vessels for China and Barbados, a harbour patrol boat for Yemen, a patrol boat for the Port of London and line handling vessels for Australia. The company has just announced a major contract with the Danish renewable energy sector.

Alnmaritec company secretary Bernie Millman says: “The new time and attendance system from UK Time Solutions Ltd will help us maintain efficient operations as we expand. All our boats are bespoke; designed and manufactured to customer requirements. This means we have a highly skilled, adaptable workforce and we need to ensure the right mix of skills is on-site, ready for each task in the building process. The oil and gas sector continues to provide a steady stream of work, and the relatively new wind farm service sector is a major business boost. With time and attendance now automated we can focus on maintaining our quality standards and continuing to build our reputation worldwide.”

UK Time Solutions Ltd managing director Chris Routledge says: “We are delighted to help Alnmaritec during this period of expansion and to reaffirm our long standing relationship with the company.”
