Burglary Resistance

by msecadm4921

The British Crime Survey (BCS) and police recorded crime show a fall in the number of burglaries between 2003/04 and 2004/05.

Domestic burglaries measured by both the police and BCS fell by 20pc, and non-domestic burglaries by 14pc. Having security measures in place was strongly associated with fewer victims or lower levels of crime. This highlights the need for specifiers to ensure that products can perform to a specified standard such as LPS 1175, claims the BRE.

About the approval

LPS 1175 ISSUE 5.2 Requirements and Testing Procedures for the LPCB Approval and Listing of Burglary Resistant Building Components, Strongpoints and Security Enclosures, is a standard for classifying the burglary resistance to physical attack of building components, such as doors, windows, shutters, grilles; strongpoints and security enclosures, such as access covers.

The Retract 5 is constructed using concealed fixings, Galvanised vertical channel sections, encased hook locking system and Stainless Steel rivets.
