Business Planning

Kinnerton Confectionery, a UK company specialising in childrens’ and adult confectionery novelties, has selected Neverfail for Microsoft Exchange as part of their business continuity and disaster recovery planning.

The solution will protect their email systems against server downtime, data loss and the associated implications of lost service. The solution was implemented by JI Consultancy, a Neverfail certified partner.

The Norfolk based company operate in the child confectionery market and specialise in manufacturing chocolate characters including characters from Shrek, Spiderman and The Magic Roundabout. They distribute their products across a range of outlets from supermarkets such as ASDA, Tesco and Sainsbury’s to high street stores such as Boots and Woolworths plus independent retailers.

Matthew Davies, Head of IT at Kinnerton said: "Good corporate governance and good auditing practices are an essential part of business now. The Neverfail for Exchange solution fitted perfectly into our proposal for business continuity and disaster recovery. As one part of a large supply chain, email is critical to us and we would not be able to get our product to market without it. We need constant communication with our supply chain partners, suppliers and customers."

Davies adds: "We have a large number of suppliers and distributors with whom we send and receive business critical information. Emails from our suppliers detailing new product development, design specifications and packaging cannot afford to be lost or delayed. For us downtime is not an option."

The makers report that the Neverfail for Exchange solution is aimed at small and medium-sized companies (SMEs) for whom e-mail, diary management, task management and scheduling are increasingly business-critical functions. Previously, SMEs had considered it too expensive to provide high-availability support to departmental and office-wide systems that are Microsoft Exchange-based, it is claimed.

Davies adds: "The Neverfail solution has proved excellent value for money and has already proved its worth in a live situation. When our primary server box recently failed, the system seamlessly switched over to our back-up server causing no disruption. What we wanted was an email system that could withstand a good bashing and not fall over and with Neverfail we now have that."
