Camera Waterloo

by msecadm4921

CCTV at Waterloo Station forms part of a larger project that encompasses many of the larger train stations in London.

The system at Waterloo comprises of 22, 1TB Darlex units recording more than 400 cameras. The Darlex DVR units are cascaded so in operation they act as one large digital video recorder. They are accessed via both a TCP/IP network, conventional analogue and RS232. The site uses specially developed software with unique features for remotely reviewing external sites, the manufacturers report. They add that the DVR can be adapted to suit the application’s requirements and can be customised to perform unique tasks. In some cases, Tecton report, they will develop special software for a client. The Waterloo project is designed to upgrade the existing infrastructure of CCTV recorders from the old analogue based systems to what the manufacturers describe as a more efficient digital system. The customers had used Drax units for the previous 10 years, Tecton add. Separately, Edinburgh City Council have recently taken delivery of a mobile CCTV Unit, that uses Darlex digital video recorders.
