CBC (Europe) Ltd has unveiled its latest Coaxi.Net product.
This turns any standard analogue coaxial cable into a 100baseT Ethernet connection. The device proved a draw on the company’s stand at the IIPSEC show in January, the CCTV product firm reports.
Always connected in pairs, Coaxi.Net units both transmit and receive, and are attached to each end of an existing coax cable to complete an RJ45-RJ45 connection. This provides a straight-through network link of distances up to 250 metres for full data rate (with up to 350m at half data rate), the makers say.
Coaxi.Net means that any coax cable can become a full 100baseT full duplex Ethernet connection, with the devices being fully transparent to the user’s network. They require no set-up, the makers claim: installation involves connecting the coaxial cable, RJ45 cable and power to each end for the link to work. Onboard status LEDs provide visible diagnostics of the link established.
What they say
"By using a network switch at the camera end, Coaxi.Net can turn a simple analogue camera connection into a multiple IP camera connection in one easy and cost-effective move," says CBC’s Sales Manager, John Downie. "This is the simplest way of installing IP Cameras onto existing coaxial cable "
