Richmond upon Thames Community Safety Partnership is inviting residents to take part in a consultation on crime issues in the borough. The results from this along with Richmond Crime Audit 2004 will help decide where crime-fighting resources are prioritised in the borough over the next three years.

What they say

Commenting on the consultation Gillian Norton chief executive of Richmond Council and Chair of the partnership said: “This is an important consultation and I would urge as many of our residents as possible to take part. Its results will play an important part in deciding community safety and crime fighting strategy in the borough in the coming years.

“The council along with its partners is working to make Richmond upon Thames the safest borough in London. We will only achieve this by working together and everyone has an important role to play.

“I would also like to draw attention to the Community Safety Booklet which we have just published. It contains important information on crime prevention as well as useful numbers to call for help or support for victims of crime or who need advice about drugs and alcohol.”

The consultation is taking place between during January and February. Residents wishing to take part can obtain a questionnaire by getting in touch with the council’s Community Safety Partnership Team on 020 8831 6198 or visiting Richmond Council’s website.

The Community Safety Booklet will be distributed to every household in the borough during January. It has a number of sections including Tackling Anti Social Behaviour, Drugs and Alcohol, Young People and Crime, Combating Crime, Your Property and Hate Crime.

The Community Safety Partnership includes Richmond Council, the borough police, Richmond and Twickenham Primary Care Trust, The London Fire and Rescue Service and a variety of other local agencies.
