East Renfrewshire Council has been among the local authorities to gain grants from the Scottish Executive?s CCTV Challenge Competition. The council sought digital recording for their new control room. Nine Sanyo DTL-4800P 520 TV lines digital video recorders and seven MPX-CD92Ps nine channel multiplexers were installed by ADT. Gordon Turner, CCTV and Facilities Manager of the East Renfrewshire control room, says: ?The DTL-4800P produces very high quality recordings that from our experience cannot be matched by analogue VCRs. By using the DTL-4800P in conjunction with the Sanyo MPX-CD92P high resolution multiplexer there is no degradation in the quality of the video images.? The control room monitors and records images from 18 cameras installed as part of a town centre scheme. In addition, the control room now has responsibility for monitoring 25 cameras previously installed and monitored by police. There are plans to increase the number of cameras to be monitored over the next 12 months.
