Corruption Date

by msecadm4921

The fifth European Forum on anti-corruption runs on Tuesday, June 23, and Wednesday, June 24, at the Hilton London Tower Bridge, London.

It’s titled: Reducing the Risks of Improper Payments in an Era of Increased International Enforcement.

Speakers organised by the American Conference Institute include from the UK David Kirk, Director of the Fraud Prosecution Service, part of the Crown Prosecution Service; and Detective Supt Colin Cowan, Head of Overseas Anti-Corruption Unit at the City of London Police. It’s aimed at in-house and private practice lawyers, compliance executives and government officials.

Organisers point out that companies with a US stock exchange listing or any United States locus must remain ever mindful of how the FCPA (Foreign Corrupt Practices Act) can subject them to investigation and prosecution by US authorities. But even without a tie to the US, companies face potential actions within their own home jurisdictions and increasingly, instances of alleged corruption are being defended on multiple fronts in jurisdictions where the target company also does business.
