Disclosure Day

by msecadm4921

ZyLAB, a developer of information access applications, will host a seminar entitled “Are you ready for E-Disclosure?” in conjunction with the SOLICITORS group on October 14 in central London.

As managing and controlling electronically stored information is no longer simply a matter of technology but has become one of the most serious sources of legal exposure and risk, the seminar is aimed at educating participants on how to prepare to respond quickly to an E-Disclosure demand imposed by regulators, civil parties or competitors whilst avoiding crippling costs.

Accounts of the actual, practical experience of running an E-Disclosure investigation will be described by Glenn Wicks, the Deputy Chief Investigation Officer of Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS). Mr Wicks is responsible for BIS Midlands area and heads investigations into insolvency crime and offences committed by disqualified directors. In 2007 Mr Wicks’ planning team won the Team Triumphs award for joined up government, following dawn raids on homes and businesses across the East Midlands. "Operation Barber" necessitated bringing 230 police officers and IOB investigators together and executing 31 search warrants simultaneously. This was the largest operation that BIS and the East Midlands police forces had carried out.

Prof Johannes Scholtes, the President of ZyLAB Technologies and the Extraordinary Chair of Text Mining, Department of Knowledge Engineering at the University of Maastricht in the Netherlands, will speak about the essential role of technology in E-Disclosure and compliance. Considering customer cases such as FBI-Enron, UN War Crimes Tribunals, Olaf, AIG, and email archiving at the White House, Prof. Scholtes will explain how the cost and risks of being exposed to an E-Disclosure demand can be controlled by deploying information access and records management in the right way.

The event will include a role play/demonstration between an in-house legal counsel and an E-Disclosure specialist of processing, filtering, analysing and reviewing unstructured information according to industry standards and methodologies. This segment of the seminar is aimed at helping participants to be aware of the potential risks that reside in their information mountains and to understand both the amount of data and the time that is involved in an E-Disclosure process.

This seminar is free to all and has been accredited by the SOLICITORS group, entitling attending solicitors to earn CPD points. Registrations can be made from the homepage of www.zylab.co.uk, by emailing [email protected] or by phoning ZyLAB UK on 01276 850970.
