More than 35,000 people descended on Leicester on Sunday, October 24 for the launch of the biggest Diwali celebrations outside India.
The annual lights switch-on ceremony took place on Belgrave Road, marking as in previous years the beginning of the festive season for many Hindus, Sikhs and Jains across the city and county.
Performers took to the stage before the main event, offering the large crowds a mix of traditional and Bollywood dancing and music. The lights switch-on by Leicester City Council councillor Veejay Patel, was followed by a firework display around the corner at Cossington Street recreation ground. Show and Event Security supplied 120 event staff with job roles ranging from response teams to road traffic stewards.
Broad Street, Birmingham, was packed with runners one Sunday October morning; taking part in the EDF Energy Half Marathon. Almost 15,000 people ran, while an estimated 50,000 stood on the sidelines to watch their friends and family running the 13 miles. Show & Event Security provided over 250 security and stewarding personnel.
