DoD Smart Card

by msecadm4921

Viisage has received the official order to support the production of secure, smart credentials as part of the Common Access Card (CAC) smart card program from the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD).

The initial purchase order is valued at $10.2 million. News of the order follows the April 2, 2004 announcement of Viisage’s selection for this program by the DoD. Viisage will provide a solution to the DoD’s Defense Manpower Data Center (DMDC) through Telos, the DMDC’s support contractor. The solution, which is expected to include 1,700 Toppan CP400 printers as the fixed-site desktop printers, as well as consumables and services, will be used for the production of secure identification cards throughout the Real-time Automated Personnel Identification System (RAPIDS). Implementation is scheduled to begin immediately and will continue over the next 12 to 18 months.
