The Security Industry Authority (SIA) is holding a free workshop for Gloucester’s door supervisors on Thursday April 5, at the Premier Inn, Twigworth, Gloucester.
The SIA reports that its staff will be on hand at the Premier Inn from 10am until 3pm to offer advice and to answer questions about SIA licences renewals.
Door supervisor licences have been legally required in the South West since 2004. Licences issued then to door staff, managers and directors of security companies in the South West may soon expire and will need to be renewed. The regulator points out that it is illegal to work as a door supervisor, security company manager or director without a valid SIA licence. The penalties for working without an SIA licence are potentially severe, the authority adds.
What they say
Rachael White, an SIA Head of Investigation said: “The Gloucester area enjoys a vibrant nightlife with a rich mix of pubs, clubs and bars. SIA licensed door supervisors at nightspots have a positive impact in reducing alcohol-related violence and disorder, and creating a safe environment for revellers. We are running this free workshop for door supervisors to ensure that their licence renewal process runs smoothly, thereby helping the public to continue benefiting from trained, qualified and fit and proper SIA licensed door staff.”
