Cryptomathic, a provider of e-security solutions has been awarded a Smart Star by Visa International.

Cryptomathic, a provider of e-security solutions has been awarded a Smart Star by Visa International for its innovation in developing standards-based solutions for personalization, its commitment to open smart card standards and their support for CPS (Card Personalization Specification).

Cryptomathic, a preferred technology provider to Visa, reports it has been acknowledged for its contributions to card personalisation with CardInk its EMV data preparation system and for its involvement in other projects, which have resulted in further growth within the smart card industry. These projects include PKI plus key management systems for chip manufacturers, terminal vendors and payment scheme processors. Cryptomathic adds that it was the first company to offer CPS with CPS data preparation having been adopted by issuers such as Crédit Agricole and complete CPS solutions being offered jointly with Böwe-ORGA.

What they say

"We are very pleased indeed to receive the Smart Star award from Visa in recognition and acknowledgement of our contributions and commitment to the smart card industry," said Peter Landrock, Executive Chairman. "Cryptomathic has been involved with EMV since 1996 and has offered data preparation since 1999. We have worked closely with Visa and its member banks to support them and provide them with the products that meet their requirements. Our commitment to the smart card industry is still strong and we look forward to continuing our work and relationships." Jim Lee, senior vice president, Product Technology and Standards, Visa International, said: "The issuance of EMV smart cards has migrated from the realm of complex and expensive to business as usual. This has been achieved through the standardization efforts of GlobalPlatform and EMVco and the participation of companies such as Cryptomathic in defining and supporting these standards." Cryptomathic CardInk is a data preparation system (chip application + magnetic stripe) for single- and multi-application EMV cards.
