A recent event celebrated the first generation of prisoner escorting contracts.
Correctional Services Minister, Paul Goggins MP attended the event at Church House in Westminster, London, as did the Chief Inspector of Prisons, Anne Owers and Phil Wheatley, the Director General of the Prison Service. Phil Wheatley addressed the event, commenting on the reduced number of escapes as one of the many benefits to come out of the public-private partnership. Reliance Secure Task Management Limited won the renewed contract to provide prisoner escort and custody services in South Wales, West Mercia, the West Midlands, Wessex and South West England. The new contracts from August 29, 2004 run for seven years.
