Gate Look

by msecadm4921

Looks can be deceptive, or so claims installer Access Control and Automation when it comes to automated gates.

The company recently installed a BPT Automation Nyota 115 gate operator as part of sliding gate system designed to look like swing gates.

"This was an unusual request from a home owner in Edinburgh," says Barry Law of Access Control and Automation, "but the reasoning behind it was actually very sensible. The style of house suited the aesthetics of swing gates, but there simply wasn’t the room for them. Further more, the space that was available was needed for car parking."

The installer designed and built sliding gates with solid hard wood cladding, incorporating a darker piece of wood running vertically down the middle to give the impression of gates that swing open from the middle. The gates are operated by BPT’s Nyota 115 electro mechanical gate operator which has been manufactured so that it will suit most styles of sliding gates.

This design was more in keeping with the style of the house and proved practical for the owner who can use all the long yet shallow space around the house for off road, secure parking, reports Access Control and Automation. The installer also built a matching pedestrian door with a BPT pedestrian gate opener.

What they say

"People sometimes associate sliding gates with either very modern homes or commercial establishments, but this doesn’t have to be the case," adds Barry. "With a little thought and a bit of clever ‘deception’, sliding gates can be used on any premises where space is at a premium. These gates are not only extremely robust but look good – an essential element for residential applications."

The customer – a private home owner – is happy with the installation, which took just two weeks to complete, the installer adds. In fact, Access Control and Automation reports that it has won further contracts based on this installation.
