Guard Approach

by msecadm4921

From the May print issue of Professional Security; a couple of pages about guarding contractor approaches to offering services.

One idea is to bundle security and other support services into one, to save on costs and mean fewer phone calls for a FM or building manager to make. For instance outsourced services company MITIE says it’s to further enhance what it calls its ‘Total Security Management’.

MITIE speaks of a joined-up approach to contracted security. It describes Total Security Management as a seamless array of manned, technical, and specialist security services, beyond the limits of what it terms segregated service provision. The company claims that the security industry has seen a recent shift in mindset, with more and more customers desiring to work with an security provider that has the ability to provide their multi-discipline requirements. According to the contractor, just a handful of companies are able to attempt to meet these complex specifications with their security divisions – which are often too disparate, or even in competition with one another.

MITIE has appointed Nick Batchelor who says: “The critical success factor in Total Security Management is having all the service lines under one roof, working co-dependently. We can then deliver to the customer exactly what they need to fulfil their security requirements in a polished and joined-up fashion. MITIE has been strong in offering a full suite of services for a long time. But focussing on what our customers’ ultimate aims are and delivering the best tailored solution, will enable cost savings and operational synergies for them. It will also enable us to penetrate new sectors, which is really exciting.” Nick was Head of Physical Security for an international FTSE 100 company.

Jeff Flanagan, Managing Director for MITIE’s security business added: “Total Security Management makes sense to us as the theme of a joined-up approach runs right through our business. Our broad service range of security and other facilities management services enables us to deliver tailored solutions to every customer’s needs.”
