Guard Rejig

by msecadm4921

In a floorspace re-jig at IFSEC, the May 12 to 15 show will see security guarding and support services exhibitors in hall 7 at the Birmingham NEC

It’s next to co-located exhibition The Facilities Show, which runs from May 13 to 15. According to organisers this relocation takes into account the important role facilities managers have in procurement of guarding services.

James Blue, IFSEC’s event director, said: “Leaving the office is hugely difficult for facilities managers, yet sourcing the right products and services to ensure their building runs effectively is an essential part of their role. The co-location of Security Guarding & Support Services with The Facilities Show means that visitors can source products and services across all aspects of their remit, in one place. Furthermore, with the introduction of SIA licensing and the Approved Contractor Scheme, now is the time to re-evaluate existing guarding contracts.”

IFSEC 2008 will also feature a seminar programme and a new strategic conference aimed at all professionals concerned with security. Speakers confirmed include representatives from the Metropolitan Police, Huntingdon Life Sciences, G4S Cash Services, JP Morgan, London Underground and Essex Police. Sessions will focus on real-life applications of effective security techniques across retail, banking, transport and other sectors. Speakers will be presenting real-life case studies, innovative advances in technology and updates on the latest standards and legislation.

The exhibition will feature UK guarding companies, including Advance Security, G4S Security Services, IPSA, Innovise, Legion Group, Mitie Security, Nationwide Security Services, NTIPDU, Romtrac, and Wilson James. Darren Gamage, head of marketing at Mitie Security commented: “We are delighted to be taking a major presence within Security Guarding & Support Services at this year’s IFSEC. We’ve worked closely with the show organisers to shape the event, together with the feedback from our clients last year – we’re looking forward to a successful show.”

Douglas Greenwell, sales and marketing director at G4S Security Services (UK), said: “Our position in Security Guarding & Support Services at IFSEC gives us the opportunity to demonstrate our full range of integrated security solutions. We look forward to welcoming visitors to stand 570 to discuss their security needs and to demonstrate the products, technologies and services that make us a market leader in the industry.”
