by msecadm4921

The Heavy Goods Vehicles Crime Solutions trade show runs in November.

Delegates from the sectors of transport, logistics, security and crime prevention have signed up for the Heavy Goods Vehicles Crime Solutions trade show, report the organisers, security consultants PLC working with the UK Police National Stolen Lorry Desk. The show, at the Metropolitan Police Sports and Social Club, Bushey, Watford on Tuesday, November 19, is dedicated to security products for heavy goods vehicles. PLC Consultancy chairman Pamela Hughes said that the response to the idea had been enormous and the day will focus on crime reduction briefing sessions and exhibits featuring potential solutions for companies. She said: ?Our exhibitors include the prime providers for HGV security including TRACKER, Eurowatch, Maple, Navtrak, Encrypta and Bulldog with their latest products and developments. There will be 12 briefing sessions, all chaired by a senior police officer, featuring the latest locking devices, alarms and immobilisers, international tracking systems and perimeter protection.?

On show

Among the latest developments on show will be the Susie-Track system for the tracking and status monitoring of trailers. Developed by TMC Innovations Ltd, the system was specifically designed for the trailer market and comprises GPS positioning and messaging communications equipment, its own power management system and automatic detection of coupling and door status. Phil Skelton, senior transportation risk manager for Ace European Group said: ?Goods stolen from vehicles is not a victimless crime. The resulting effect impacts on manufacturers, retailers, hauliers and their insurers. Drivers are frequently being attacked. The ever-increasing level of this crime is adding to the costs of those organisations which is ultimately passed on to the consumer. Ace European Group, as a major provider of cargo insurance, supports the work of the National Stolen Lorry Load Desk and all police administrations in fighting this crime wave.? The Lorry Desk, which is part funded by industry and the Home Office, has highlighted numerous issues in respect of lorry load thefts in recent years. This has led to an increased awareness among UK police forces and the Home Office of industry?s concerns including priority given to this type of theft and detection and recovery rates. The Metropolitan Police is to take over responsibility for the Lorry Desk from the autumn, building on the work by Essex Police. The trade show is sponsored by TRACKER Network (UK) and Eurowatch and is supported by Hill Dickinson, lawyers to the freight, transport and insurance industry.
