UK forensic security product firm SmartWater Technology has hosted a Japanese television crew.
An upcoming episode of Hodou Tokushu (‘Weekly News Feature’) will feature SmartWater, which is deployed by 95pc of UK police forces, the firm reports, and how it could be successfully utilised in Japan to aid police with what the firm calls wide reaching crime reduction issues. The programme will also address the problem of motorcycle crime in Japan and the increasing number of bikes which are stolen and exported to mainland China.
Hodou Tokushu’s production company, TBS (Tokyo Broadcasting Systems), first became aware of SmartWater after the programme’s producer read a feature article about its success on wired.com. Filming has already taken place at SmartWater’s Head Office, and the SmartWater episode is expected to be broadcast towards the end of June.
What they say
SmartWater Chief Executive, Phil Cleary, said: "The programme is addressing a very serious crime issue, and we are delighted to be involved in the project. The success of the SmartWater Strategy in the UK can be attributed to its infrastructure which is supported by nationwide police forces and other agencies. Long term collaborations with the Japanese Government and Japanese police have the potential to produce similar crime reduction statistics."
