Leeds Museum Discovery Centre houses over one million artefacts which are not on permanent display at Leeds City Councils Museums and Galleries sites….
A proxSafe maxx32 key cabinet from deister is used to manage keys for service areas, loading bay, offices, tutorial and meeting rooms. Access control to site services is critical because all storage areas are temperature controlled, varying between plus 14 to minus 30 degrees Centigrade. Rapid degradation of many of the treasures would ensue if a strict access control regime were not in place.
As the Discovery Centre is open to visitors, it was important that the key cabinet was pleasing on the eye, as well as hiding the valuable keys. The standard proxSafe Terminal controller attached to the proxSafe maxx32 key cabinet reads many ID card technologies and gives the option for PIN code access via the keypad. A user can have card only, PIN only or card and PIN entry to the product.
Site Development Officer, Gemma Pollard is extremely pleased with the reliability, ease of use and aesthetics of the proxSafe maxx32, and, based on its success, more proxSafe key cabinets have been installed at other Leeds City Council Museums and Galleries.
