Lighting Guide

by msecadm4921

CCTV product firm Ganz is warning that lighting is a critical, but often overlooked and misunderstood element of camera performance.

With ever more important ‘green’ issues and new legislation to consider, as well as valuable cost savings available from the latest lighting technology, the company has published a 50-page lighting guide. The aim, to help installers, end users, specifiers and consultants alike.

The pocket-size Guide provides information and advice, presented in a step-by-step format. Besides product descriptions and key features, spec sheets and achievable lighting distance tables, there are application descriptions and illustrated examples showing how and where equipment is best suited. For instance, the Guide describes the applications for infra red and white light illuminators, as well as the often tricky task of providing adequate lighting for dome cameras.

Available as download

Available free on request as a hard copy, or as a download from the website, the Ganz Lighting Guide also offers installation tips on everything from power supply options to suitable bracketry, together with a list of dos and don’ts when fitting equipment and a section describing typical system set-ups. Consultant specification notes are included, with operational cost comparison charts. These show, for instance, the savings from using high efficiency LED illuminators instead of comparatively wasteful and ineffective mains driven or low voltage bulbs.

What they say

"This new guide is part of an ongoing commitment to helping our Ganz camera and Computar lens customers get the most from their investment and improve the security and safety of their systems. Besides this, they can better exploit the new technology advantages and significantly reduce their running costs," says Sales Manager John Downie. "The Ganz Lighting Guide follows on from the success of our Pocket Guide to CCTV, which can also be downloaded from the website or posted out free on request," he adds.
