Bicester Town Council were having problems with vandalism and anti-social behaviour at a sports pavilion in the Oxfordshire town.
They turned to local installer Safeguard Alarms for a solution. Safeguard suggested remotely monitored CCTV with tannoy warning. However the cost for installing a broadband line at the pavilion proved to be prohibitive as there was no existing telephone line.
Safeguard then asked Leamington Spa-based CCTV transmission manufacturers Teleprecision Ltd to look at the problem. Teleprecision came up with using a 3G connection to link their Site Sentinel CCTV transmission system to the remote monitoring station.
Lyndsey Jones from Safeguard Alarms said: "Teleprecision came up with the perfect solution for the site at a fraction of the cost of installing broadband, because all their support and development staff are based locally they were able to respond very quickly and even helped us to commission the system."
Bicester council said that since Safeguard have installed the system the problems with vandalism have disappeared. The council is planning to extend the scheme and protect more of its remote buildings.
