Monitoring Landmark

by msecadm4921

A Remote Video Response Centre (RVRC) in Manchester has passed the landmark of 1,000 customers, reports security firm ADT.

The RVRC, which opened in September 2004, offers customers a remote security monitoring and response service. In 2005, the facility was accredited with British Standard 8418 (BS8418), which covers the design, positioning, configuration, performance, commissioning, operation and maintenance of CCTV. Its customer base includes a range of properties including celebrity homes, businesses, schools and animal sanctuaries.

What they say

Tony Farrell, General Manager of ADT’s Communications Division, said: “We believe that we are the first company in the UK to have achieved this milestone and it is testament to the great work of the RVRC team. The growth in our customer base shows the value that our customers place on having ADT manage their security systems and it also demonstrates the benefits of monitoring by our professionally trained RVRC analysts. Demand for CCTV monitoring is growing and we will continue to develop and improve our products and services in line with our customers’ expectations.”

Bob Phillips, Operations Support Manager for Personna International UK Ltd, an ADT RVRC customer since October 2005, said: “Having ADT remotely monitor our site over the last year has given us complete piece of mind that our assets and employees are safe and secure 24 hours a day. It has also allowed us to eliminate the cost of manned security to our business, as any trespass during shut down periods is immediately challenged by personnel at the RVRC via ADT audio devices in place around our facility. At the same time the centre notifies me directly of the situation, allowing me to make decisions on any further actions that may be required.”

RVRC background

ADT reports that it can intelligently link CCTV cameras with trigger alarms, so that the RVRC is alerted when a potential security issue arises. The audio facilities on the monitored equipment allow RVRC staff to speak warnings to potential attackers or assistance to staff, customers and other visitors to the site. Besides such detector-activated CCTV monitoring, the RVRC can also offer building management services to customers, such as remotely controlling gates, lights and access barriers via the CCTV transmission equipment or monitoring lone worker alarms.
